Welcome to the Preston Comhaltas website!
We are a branch of the organisation Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann which supports and develops Irish traditional music and song.
We hold regular, monthly Irish Traditional Music sessions at The Unicorn Hotel on North Road, Preston. These are every 2nd Sunday of the month from 4pm-7pm.
OUR NEXT SESSION IS ON SUNDAY 13th APRIL at 4:00 p.m.
We also hold an Irish music session every 4th Thursday of the month at The Moorbrook Inn on North Rd, Preston (next door to the Unicorn!). These start at 8:30pm. The next session is on Thursday 24th April.
“Slow and Steady”!
Preston Comhaltas branch is holding the third of our “slow and steady” session series on Thursday 24th April 2008 in the St. Thomas a Becket Room, English Martyrs' Church, Preston from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The aim is to introduce those who would like to take part in regular Irish music sessions to the tunes and ways of playing in sessions, as well as providing a friendly atmosphere in which to learn. These ‘slow & steady’ sessions are led by experienced musicians who play at the regular Irish Music sessions in Preston, and will feature their standard sets (2 or 3 tunes played without a break). Future dates are 22nd May & 26th June. Players of all ages are welcome, although a basic ability on your instrument is necessary to join in. There is a charge of £3 per session, to cover the room hire.

The English Martyrs Church is at the Junction of Garstang Road, St Georges Road, Aqueduct Street, opposite B & Q and Wickes, near to the Unicorn Hotel.

Set Dancing classes are held every Tuesday at St. Anthony’s Social Centre on Cadley Causeway, Preston, starting at 7:30pm. They are suitable for both beginners and advanced.
